The 24th ACPSS International Conference
美国华人人文社科教授协会第二十四届国际会议

In Collaboration with Troy University

October 12-14, 2018
Troy University
Montgomery, Alabama, U.S.A.

General Theme: China and the World in a Community of Shared Future for Mankind

A community with a shared future pursues an inclusive, clean, and beautiful world that enjoys lasting peace, universal security, and common prosperity. This idea has gained wider international recognition for offering China's solutions to cope with global challenges. This idea holds that communities of all countries should respect one another, and discuss issues as equals. Each country should take a new approach to developing state-to-state relations via communication, and respect the diversity of civilizations. In handling relations among countries, estrangement, confrontation, and hegemony should be replaced with dialogue exchanges, mutual learning, and coexistence. Humans should be kind to the environment, cooperate to tackle climate change, and protect the planet for the sake of human survival. Therefore, 2018 annual conference of the Association of Chinese Professors of Social Sciences in the United States invites papers and panels that focus on, but are not limited to, the following themes:

  1. Globalization and its impact
  2. Inequality and societal development
  3. Immigration, openness and isolation
  4. Cultural exchange, communication and conflicts
  5. Saving our earth and environment
  6. Social media and mass communication
  7. Education in an age of increasing diversity
  8. Population Growth, Urbanization, and Public Health
  9. Pedagogical practice of teaching Chinese as a Second Language
  10. Confucianism, Confucius Institute, and Modern China

About Montgomery, Alabama

Montgomery, capital of Alabama, lies in the center of the state on the east bank of the Alabama River. It is regarded as the birthplace of the Civil Rights Movement. In the Baptist church in Dexter Avenue the first activities of the movement gathered around Martin Luther King, Jr. Nearby is the Civil Rights Memorial in memory of those who gave their life for the movement. Old Alabama Town with its 19th C houses preserves something of the atmosphere of old Montgomery, once an important cotton market. Other places of interest are the Capitol and the White House, the oldest in the Confederate states. On the eastern outskirts of the town are the Museum of Fine Arts and the renowned Alabama Shakespeare Festival Theater.
